About Our Windows: 

“Vinyl” is a term for a generation of plastics based on a polymer known as polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC is one of the most desirable and versatile materials building construction.

During the late '70's, early 80's PVC Vinyl windows were first introduced in the United States.   But because of poor formulation, they were more of a plastic than vinyl.  Over time these vinyl windows became brittle and cracked--thus getting a bad reputation.

Since the mid-80's, vinyl windows have been on the rise due to using the right materials in the compound.  This eliminated previous problems and the bad reputation vinyl windows had received.  Today vinyl windows have taken over 50% of the marketplace in the window industry.  Rigid vinyl extrusions are ideal as window framing materials because they have a combination of aesthetic and functional features not found in wood, steel or aluminum. The plasticizers, used in traditional PVC, ease the flow of PVC to form window and door frames, but they can affect the final product with premature aging, chalking and brittleness. 

uPVC (Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) window technology has eliminated these problems and this is what Gill windows are made from.

It’s a New Generation vinyl window that uses a high impact modified PVC known as uPVC. This technological achievement has greatly expanded the design and performance capabilities of vinyl as a window framing material and at the same time, has given vinyl windows smart looks and durability.

In addition, Gill windows are also made from virgin polymer, not regrind. No reprocessed polymer compounds are used that could affect physical properties required for long life.
